Week11 Showcase Project

Visual Identity

Poster

I reduced the font size of the numbers and removed unnecessary information from the poster.
Review: Logos should be grouped together and positioned uniformly; if they are all in color, then the colors should be the same.

Other promotions

I used shapes and arrows to create all the promptions.

Jo lijima

A Tokyo–based designer whose work blends experimental type, hand-drawn gestures, and digital textures. Her typography often reflects the emotional immediacy found in youth culture and contemporary music. Jo has collaborated on visuals connected to 88rising’s artists, bringing a distinctive mix of raw expression and precise typographic structure to global audiences.

Melina K

A freelance designer from Singapore, currently residing in Brisbane, Australia. She focuses on visual design for the music industry, having designed for indie rock band Peach Pit and dance music artist Brothertiger's 2024 tour. Melina's design style is music-expressive, so it's no surprise that she loves experimenting. She enjoys layouts with experimental styles, such as mixing bold, striking fonts with soft scripts, or adding tactile details to digital works to make them more dynamic.

Day Stay Hay

A South Korean graphic design studio whose main services include graphic design, exhibition design, motion design, brand identity, and album design. Day Stay Hay's designs are characterized by playful and interesting graphic and typographic layouts, bold use of color, and strong visual impact. Creating these "meaningful" and "meaningless" designs is their daily routine and the source of their joy in design exploration.

Rreview and revised

After the presentation, classmates and professors gave me some suggestions. For example, the billboard's use of large blocks of color combined with the arrow design was interesting and visually appealing. However, adding other elements would create visual inconsistency. Also, the arrows on the map had overly thin outlines, which might make them difficult to read. After considering all the suggestions, I revised the presentation to achieve greater brand consistency.

After trying , I continued to use arrows as the main visual element in my advertising, as it was cleaner and more eye-catching.

Reflection

This project exploring visual identity and my own design philosophy. From research to development and finally to execution, it helped me understand how concept, form, and communication can coexist harmoniously. Throughout the project, I learned how to strike a balance between structure and experimentation, and how to trust the iterative process even when the outcome is uncertain. Most importantly, LetterFest made me realize that clear concepts can guide every design decision, and how to build a systematic brand is something I still need to study.
